I bought the copper version.
POSITIVES:
+ Flexible.
+ Well-made.
+ Good price.
GENERAL IMPRESSIONS:
• My first impression was that it made the sound of my Focal Radiance somewhat bassier and maybe tamed the treble a wee bit. My brain might be fooling me here – it's hard to say 100%. I haven't gone back and forth between the cables to check.
• The cable doesn't seem to have any microphonics to speak of in itself, but the two smaller cables leading to each ear cup are so long (because of the low placement of the splitter) that they end up rubbing at, and hitting, each other. That creates noise. This can be changed with something like a small elastic holding these cables together. Or, I assume, you can just discuss the splitter placement before buying to have it placed closer to the headphones.
• A wee bit heavier than a Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro's cable, but not what I would call a heavy cable.
• Its surface is not as super-slippery/-smooth as a Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro's plasticky cable, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing as it lays in place easily – it doesn't seem eager to slide down from armrests or tables. And it's not like it sticks to things like glue or something – it is generally smooth.
• The fact that one can choose between so many cable lengths is really helpful so as to find just the right length for the intended use.
NEGATIVES:
- Hmm... Nothing that I can see.
CONCLUSION:
I'd definitively buy such a cable again. Very satisfied.
I got this cable to replace the "GONZO" cable that Hifiman thinks is a good idea to go with the HE1000SE. The cable is well made feels nice and sounds good and it does not cost a stupid audiophile price.
